Hyundai Sonata LimitedDesign/Fit and Finish
From the outside, the 2009 Hyundai Sonata Limited is about as exciting as vanilla ice cream, but most of us around the offices find the look to be tasteful. The design is simple and clean, with chrome accents that aren't overdone. Inside, however, the Sonata goes decidedly upscale — still vanilla, but maybe French Vanilla Bean gelato in a port reduction topped with a mint sprig — not just tasteful, but tasty.

Alas, VW couldn't furnish us with the more sensible, cheaper model, but the basics are the same. The CC was created by taking a Passat — same wheelbase, same powertrain, same basic interior — and lowering its roof line by 2 inches while radically changing the styling. With apologies to the Karmann Ghia Owners Club of America, the result is the finest-looking automobile Volkswagen has ever created. It is sleek and elegant and, like the Mercedes CLS it's often confused for, was designed to be a sedan with a coupelike roof line (hence the name CC, for "Comfort Coupe"). As expected, this design element does impinge upon rear-seat headroom, but it's not as bad as you'd think — the lack of a middle seat is the bigger problem.

Audi A4 3.2 Quattro: Design/Fit and FinishThe build quality of the new A4 is consistent with Audi's good reputation, especially on the inside. Smooth leather surfaces, along with durable-looking plastic and soft-touch materials, make for a nice combination of colors and textures. Small touches, like ambient lighting underneath the driver seat, add to the premium feel.

Our Recaro Como child safety seat was fairly easy to install on the outboard second-row seat (we installed it on the 40 side of the 60/40-split-folding seat to make access to the third row through the 60 side easier without having to remove the child seat). You'll find LATCH anchors on the second-row outboard seats only.
